About Us

Some of you may be wondering what CSCE stands for. It is in fact an acronym for the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering.

As a learned society, the CSCE has been promoting the development and dissemination of Civil Engineering knowledge since 1887. Predominantly consisting of industry professionals, organizations, professors and students, the society aims to maintain high standards of practice within the civil engineering profession in Canada. In addition to providing a series of lectures by prominent civil engineers across the country, the society offers a professional development program to help its members fulfill their obligation to lifelong learning and professional growth. The activities of the CSCE help to enhance the public image of the profession and to promote the interchange of knowledge within the civil engineering community.

The University of Toronto Student Chapter acts as the link between you and the industry, providing opportunities for networking and professional development throughout the year. The annual membership fee is only $15 and entitles you to many benefits including:

Eligibility for the Donald Jamieson Fellowship (scholarship) which is available to graduate students in the field of Structural Engineering
Subscription to the Canadian Civil Engineer Magazine and the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering
Discounts on books, CSCE merchandise and technical publications
Discounts on CSCE sponsored annual speciality conferences, national lecture tours, courses, seminars and workshops
Opportunities to market your skills and abilities among potential employers through various activities

Accompanying the benefits included in the standard membership package are additional guest lectures, social engagements, career workshops, several networking opportunities, and much much more. The Student Chapter Executives will be keeping busy organizing throughout the year to ensure the most diverse and effecive events take place. Additionally, we aim to collaborate with chapters from other universities to further enrich the CSCE student membership experience.

Do you want to play a role in the betterment of the Civil Engineering profession in Canada? Do you want to be connected with local and national Civil Engineering communities? Or do you simply want to benefit from the professional development events, lectures and activities held for CSCE members throughout the year? Whatever your reasons, the membership is well worth the $15 fee!

To become a member simply fill out the membership form (click here for form) and pass the $15 membership fee on to one of the chapter executives, who will take care of the rest.
