SUSTAINABLE BUILDINGS WORKSHOP - Framework for Strategic SustainableDevelopment
Guest Lecturer: Anna Barkan (Eng Sci 0T6+PEY) + Master's in Strategic
Leadership towards Sustainability BTH, Sweden
DATE: Friday January 14, 2011 9:00am-12:00pm
Have you ever wondered if new building designs are necessarily a step
in the right direction? Would you like the opportunity to analyze the data
and decide for yourself whether or not a new building deserves the label
of a "Green Building" or an "Energy Pig" and develop a path that would
lead it towards becoming more sustainable?
If so, join us in a workshop dually hosted by Civil Engineering Club
and Promise to Future Generations with our special guest lecturer Anna
Barkan (Eng Sci 0T6+PEY, Master's Strategic Leadership towards
Sustainability BTH, Sweden). We will investigate the Framework for
Strategic Sustainable Development (FSSD) approach as well as provide
students with the opportunity to apply the framework to some of U of T's own buildings.
If interested, please send a quick e-mail with the word "attending workshop" in the
subject box to academic.civclub@gmail.com so we can have a rough estimate
to book rooms. To all students enrolled in CIV 576, Sustainable Buildings
with Prof. Pressnail; please note that this workshop will held as part
of your scheduled lecture (but this workshop is open to all students
regardless whether or not they are enrolled in that course.)
