The Civil Engineering Graduate Student Association (CEGSA) represents more than 200 graduate students in the Department of Civil Engineering. The purpose of the association is to represent the civil engineering graduate student body to other groups and to sponsor events of common interest to the membership. Past activities have included free barbeques in the summer, pub nights, coffee and tea events, movie nights, and a trip to Canada's Wonderland. The CEGSA has also prepared a Welcome Package for new students.
The CEGSA engages in the affairs of the Department of Civil Engineering by meeting regularly with the Chair and by selecting representatives for the departmental committees that make decisions affecting graduate education, such as the Academic Planning Committee and the Academic Appeals Committee. The association also holds two seats on the Council of the Graduate Students' Union, which debates issues of interest to the entire graduate community of the University of Toronto.
The Executive Committee of the CEGSA consists of seven members who are elected in September of each year. The Constitution of the Association is available here. Minutes from past meetings are posted here.
If you have any suggestions for how to improve the graduate student experience, or if you would like to participate in the work of the CEGSA, please send us an email at cegsa@ecf.utoronto.ca.
