Professor Kennedy was part of a group that drafted an international standard for quantifying GHG emissions from cities, on behalf of the World Bank, UN-Habitat, and UN-Environment program. The standard was released at the 5th World Urban Forum in Rio de Janeiro, 23 March, 2010
Professor Kennedy led a group of international scientists that studied greenhouse gas emissions from ten global cities. Their work, published in Environmental Science and Technology, was featured in the Economist magazine, Sept 28, 2009, as well as media in Columbia, Spain and the USA.
Drs. Kennedy, Miller, Karney, and Hatzopoulou, produced the report Infrastructure and the Economy: Future Directions for Ontario, for the Martin Prosperity Institute, which was discussed in the Toronto Star, December 20, 2008
