Resources
U of T is home to one of the most highly regarded engineering teaching and research schools in North America . This corresponds to top-notch resources for our students including Libraries, Labs and Student Services.
Libraries
U of T has the top 4 research libraries in North America. There are over 50 libraries located on campus, with 11 related to the Science and Engineering field. This means lots of resources for projects, research or for curious minds.
Laboratories
Civil Engineering has top of the line experimental laboratories in each one of its divisions. Some examples include:
Mark Huggins Structural Laboratory has helped with the development of Canadian structural engineering codes. It allows for building materials such as columns to be tested to see what the maximum weight it can carry.
Groundwater contamination studies are performed in the Groundwater Laboratory. Here, the movement and degradation of toxic compounds that are found in groundwater are examined and clean up strategies are developed.
The drinking water and wastewater laboratories examine cost-effective technologies to produce safe drinking water and develop new biological technologies for the treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater.
Rock Physics and Computational Geomechanics Laboratory combines research from traditional rock mechanics and seismology with state of the art rock testing and seismic recording equipment.
Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) centre uses information technology to improve transportation system performance. In addition, private industries are able to demonstrate and evaluate any prototype technologies under live traffic conditions.
Student Services
U of T offers a wide variety of services to its students including health services, career centre, housing, personal and emotional well being and support to Aboriginal and international students.
